First of all let’s establish what are the family’s basic needs: shelter, food and clothing. But what we fail to include is a good health insurance. Taking care of our health is probably the last thing in our mind and adding another payable to our increasing expenses with a growing kid is probably one of the reasons why we are discouraged to apply for a health insurance. Getting a health insurance is usually expensive but lucky for us, hubby’s company provided an affordable option for us to have a decent insurance. But what about the others who doesn’t have that kind of benefits in their company?
There are public hospitals that are open to those who cannot afford to pay for their healthcare but are they getting the proper treatment? Usually, public hospitals do not have enough funds and they can only provide for a limited number of people, and some patients would have no choice but to move to another hospital (most probably private hospitals) because the public hospital do not have the capacity to accommodate them.
With a private health insurance, you don’t have to worry about that. They will provide you with a list of accredited hospitals and clinics that are near your area and you won’t have to worry about hospital bills should an unfortunate incident happen and you’ll be needing hospitalization. It definitely gave us a peace of mind especially in times of crisis.
With a healthcare like this, it’s not only limited to emergency cases, getting dental care and consultation fees from a general practitioner and specialists are also covered, not to mention diagnostic tests and other hospital fees. The latter two is usually the most expensive.
Is it worth it to pay for a health insurance? Definitely. It might be expensive at first but there are affordable options out there for your family. Keep in mind that paying for it monthly is way better than paying for a huge hospital bill.
