The Importance of Health Insurance In A Family

First of all let’s establish what are the family’s basic needs: shelter, food and clothing. But what we fail to include is a good health insurance. Taking care of our health is probably the last thing in our mind and adding another payable to our increasing expenses with a growing kid is probably one of the reasons why we are discouraged to apply for a health insurance. Getting a health insurance is usually expensive but lucky for us, hubby’s company provided an affordable option for us to have a decent insurance. But what about the others who doesn’t have that kind of benefits in their company?

health insuranceThere are public hospitals that are open to those who cannot afford to pay for their healthcare but are they getting the proper treatment? Usually, public hospitals do not have enough funds and they can only provide for a limited number of people, and some patients would have no choice but to move to another hospital (most probably private hospitals) because the public hospital do not have the capacity to accommodate them.

With a private health insurance, you don’t have to worry about that. They will provide you with a list of accredited hospitals and clinics that are near your area and you won’t have to worry about hospital bills should an unfortunate incident happen and you’ll be needing hospitalization. It definitely gave us a peace of mind especially in times of crisis.

With a healthcare like this, it’s not only limited to emergency cases, getting dental care and consultation fees from a general practitioner and specialists are also covered, not to mention diagnostic tests and other hospital fees. The latter two is usually the most expensive.

Is it worth it to pay for a health insurance? Definitely. It might be expensive at first but there are affordable options out there for your family. Keep in mind that paying for it monthly is way better than paying for a huge hospital bill.

Unlike in the US, seems like getting insurance policies here in our country is not everyone’s priority. Although it can be a life saver, not everyone just have the means to secure their family with one.

I agree. That’s why the government should improve the Philhealth benefits. It’s really not enough to help those who are in need. Not only that but they should provide more public hospitals, especially in the rural areas.

I am thankful to my mother for keeping us insured. At first, i didn’t really like the idea but when it was explained to me clearly and after thinking about it, getting a life insurance or a family insurance isn’t about asking for bad things to happen, instead, it is to insure everyone in the family to be well-treated when bad things happen like accidents or serious illness. So Yes, insurance is worth the pay.

  18. For us it definitely is worth having healthy insurance because in times of emergencies, you have something that will help you with the expenses. There are companies though that charges huge fees and do cover like a huge percentage of your expenses, but there are also companies that are a bit of the lower fees and doesn’t cover much of your expenses. You just got to find the right company for you though to be able to avail health insurance. It can be expensive, but you’ll be glad to have it.
