Commonly Misused Words

Having English as a second language in country with so many dialects is actually quite difficult. If it’s up to me, I’d prefer to really master our national language Filipino and learn at least one or two dialects. Online language classes might be a flexible way to do this. Language an be such a barrier most of the times, especially when visiting the other parts of the country. But circumstances have their way. Instead of learning my mother’s tongue, we utilize Filipino/Tagalog (my father is Tagalog) at home and learned English from school and from my love of reading.

I think it’s safe to say that our slang or words used in informal conversations are a mix of Filipino with the English words and we tend to misuse them sometimes. Here are just some of the commonly misused words.

  5. I find it really irritating whenever I see “its” being used as “it’s” or similar variations. Sigh.

    hello!

When it comes to grammar, I am horrible at it. I have mistakes, left and right. It’s embarrassing! But I’ll keep on writing, anyway. :)

    Have a great day!

There, they’re, their, whose, who’s, etc. So many confusing words which is why one has to be careful so that the meaning of a sentence won’t be compromised as well. Thanks for sharing this! c:
